Psychiatrist On-call/Outpatient/Inpatient Coverage

We are looking for a 6 month locum Psychiatrist to
support gaps in our call schedule and inpatient unit. Also,opportunity for outpatient single consults including OTN.

Mental Health and Addictions Program
We have a 24-bed adult inpatient unit, with full-time social work, occupational therapy, psychology and therapeutic programming.

A 6-bed Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit opened in January 2015. This unit provides children and adolescents with serious mental health concerns requiring assessment and stabilization access to a local regional service in the Four County Region.

A 12-bed Geriatric Assessment Behavioural Unit (GABU), to provides care for older adults with dementia and behavioural disturbances.

We have a 3-bed Crisis Response Unit (CRU) located in the Emergency Department, with nursing staff providing 24-hour crisis assessments and monitoring. In addition, Canadian Mental Health
Association and Fourcast Addictions Services are located on the unit to provide short-term case management in the community to patients attending the unit.

A multidisciplinary consultation-liaison service provides inpatient consultations and on-going liaison across medical-surgical units. We offer a diverse range of outpatient mental health programs
across all stages of life, which include evidence based individual and group psychotherapies, outreach services and psychiatric management.

Subspecialty clinics include Early Psychosis
Intervention (EPI), Psychosis Assessment and Treatment Clinic, Eating Disorder Program, Psychiatric Assessment Services for the
Elderly (PASE), Family and Youth Clinic, a Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic and a Development Disabilities Collaborative Consultation Program (DDCCP) for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Our Neurostimulation Program includes Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and with future plans to introduce repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).

Our Department is a designated teaching site for trainees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels affiliated through Queens and McMaster University and University of Toronto
with opportunities for faculty appointments.

Qualifications
• Currently registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario or willing to obtain registration
• Currently registered with or eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Fellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or eligible
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing, staff, patients, directors, managers, and the community as required
• Demonstrated analytical ability
• Actively encourage a spirit of co-operation amongst team members
• Eligible for staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre
• Evidence of ongoing continued medical education
