The Opportunity
PRHC is searching for a Chief of Family Medicine who will lead the department by advancing PRHC’s mission, vision, and strategic directions.

Reporting to the Chair of MAC this position is for a 5 year term, renewable for a second 5 year term following an internal review.

The members of the Department of Family Medicine provide a wide range of services within the hospital and the community.

Crossing several programs within PRHC, family practitioners are involved in the following areas: Complex continuing care, MRP for their own admitted Medical Patients, Hospitalist Service, Surgical Assistants, Obstetrics, Palliative Care, & Family Health Teams (FHT)in the community.

The future of the Family Medicine Department. The
new Chief will collaborate with colleagues and partners to develop a future vision for the Department of Family Medicine.

PRHC is looking for a Chief who will be a goal-oriented leader, a strong communicator, and systems thinker. The new Chief will encourage innovation and champion the Family Medicine program
to strengthen its interface with the hospital, community, academic centres and other stakeholders. They will be committed to developing
themselves and others, and will lead the department in contributing to the growth of PRHC as a Seniors Centre of Excellence.

Qualifications
• Currently registered and hold an independent practice license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Fellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada
• Eligible for Active or associate staff privileges at PRHC
• Leadership experience preferred
• Evidence of ongoing continued clinical and
leadership education

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with administration, directors/managers, staff, physicians, and the community
• Diplomacy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Possess significant clinical experience
• Demonstrated ability to integrate current evidence and best practice into delivery of quality care in the Department
• Knowledge of program planning and evaluation
• Demonstrated ability to manage change effectively
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Commitment to an inter-disciplinary team approach
• Actively encourage a spirit of co-operation amongst team members
• Strong interest and experience in a Seniors Centre of Excellence
