Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is a regional hospital with a proud local history extending back over a century.

With a capacity of 494 beds, our regional hospital has one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Ontario, and offers an extensive range of services, including specialized programs in renal, stroke, cardiac, cancer care and vascular surgery.

Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is seeking a Geriatrician to join our growing geriatric program at our hospital on a permanent basis. PRHC is committed to building a network of services to meet the needs of older adults. All of this work is in partnership with the Peterborough Family Health Team (FHT), the Home and Community Care Central East LHIN, and the Seniors Care Network of the Central East LHIN.

PRHC is the home of one of the twelve GAIN clinics across our region. Our clinic is critical in providing assessment, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, education, support and care to older adults dealing with complex health concerns.

As part of our hospital’s Seniors Care Strategy, we have opened two specialized inpatient units: the Geriatric Assessment & Behavioural Unit (GABU) and the Geriatric Assessment & Treatment Unit (GATU). Each 12-bed unit is staffed by an interdisciplinary team specially trained to provide care for frail and behaviourally-challenged seniors.

Compensation is via fee-for-service billing to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and other Ministry funding provided to eligible Geriatricians. An expected earnings for a full time practicing Geriatrician working at our hospital and in our region is between $150,000 and $300,000 per year. Benefits are not applicable for this position.

Position Qualifications:
- Currently registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Fellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Geriatrics or CPSO recognized specialist in Geriatrics required
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing, staff, patients, directors, managers, and the community as required
- Eligible for staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre
- Evidence of ongoing continued medical education
