GATU is designed for frail seniors who may require a slow rebuilding of mental, physical and social capabilities before they return home. Patients on this unit typically stay around six (6) to eight (8) weeks.

Depending on your condition, you’ll see a series of healthcare team members a day to help with your recovery. Exercise class is offered twice a week by therapy staff and recreation is available four (4) to five (5) days a week to support your physical, cognitive, emotional, social, behavioural and spiritual needs while in the hospital.

HOW TO REFER TO GATU

Patients receive a referral to GATU through geriatricians in the community.
