Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is aware of a worldwide shortage of epidural supplies. These are products that we use to support patients during childbirth and to provide pain control after some surgeries.
PRHC currently has these supplies in stock. At this time, any patient who needs an epidural will receive one. We are monitoring the situation closely and are working with our partner hospitals across the region as we develop a plan to manage next steps. We are investigating alternative options in the event they might be needed, and will share more information as the situation evolves.
