PRHC has received a number of inquiries today (January 6) related to potential patient transfers to our hospital from other areas across the province. Over the course of the pandemic, the Ministry of Health may call on hospitals to accept patient transfers from areas where the healthcare system is experiencing critically high patient volumes. These transferred patients may or may not be positive for COVID-19.
As a partner within the broader provincial healthcare system, PRHC is prepared to provide our support in any way possible to ensure that patients across Ontario are able to access the care they need, while also doing everything we can to continue providing our normal levels of care and service across the hospital.
All enhanced pandemic measures remain in effect at PRHC. Patients who require hospital-level care should continue to come to PRHC or call 911; the appropriate precautions are in place to keep our patients, visitors and healthcare workers safe.
