Currently, Peterborough has no confirmed or presumptive cases of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).
As we continue working to protect our patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, staff and volunteers, Peterborough Regional Health Centre has expanded our screening in the Emergency Department (ED) and Pediatric Outpatient (POP) Clinic to include all out-of-country travel for patients who present with a fever, cough, difficulty breathing or other symptoms of respiratory illness.
People who have traveled to affected countries and who have a fever, cough or other symptoms of respiratory illness should not go to the Emergency Department; they should contact Peterborough Public Health (705-743-1000 x. 401) or Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000) for more information/direction.
Patients who have elective (non-urgent) hospital surgeries, appointments or procedures booked are being asked to reschedule if they have symptoms of respiratory illness or if they have traveled outside the country in the 14 days prior to their appointment. Visitors who are sick or who have traveled outside the country in the past 14 days are also asked to delay coming to the hospital.
We are working with our healthcare partners in the community and region on ways to divert patients who do not require hospital care away from the ED, in order to ensure hospital resources are available for the sickest patients. You’ll be hearing more about these plans in the coming days.
