WHAT WE OFFER
The Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) satellite program is a networked, shared-care system based on a partnership between Ontario’s five tertiary hospitals and eight POGO Satellite Centres. Satellite Clinics are located in community hospitals and allow families to receive care closer to home.
POGO and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) collaborated to create the POGO Pediatric Oncology Satellite Clinic at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). This POGO Satellite Clinic helps families by reducing travel time, loss of income, and separation from home and community, while maintaining confidence that young patients are receiving the best quality care, under the direction of The Hospital for Sick Children.
We provide a wide range of services, including:
WHO WE ARE
The POGO team is staffed by an interprofessional healthcare team that cares for the whole child. In addition to pediatricians, nurse practitioners and nurses, our satellite team also includes the services of a social worker, psychology associate, registered dietitians and child life specialist.
Child life specialists are certified professionals who aim to reduce stress and anxiety associated with hospital visits. Referrals to other healthcare specialists are available for patients who live in the Peterborough catchment area.
