March is Pharmacy Appreciation Month, a time to celebrate and learn about the contributions of the hospital’s Pharmacy team
Pharmacists are medication information experts. Whether advising patients, physicians, or caregivers, this group of professionals is dedicated to ensuring the safe administration of drug therapies.
This year, we are excited to highlight Rania Mitkees, who has been working at PRHC as an inpatient pharmacist for the last 10 years. Some of her responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and other team members to optimize medication regimens and tailor medication doses to patient-specific conditions. She also monitors drug interactions, drug levels and adverse effects.
As a member of PRHC’s antibiotic stewardship program, Rania also promotes optimal antibiotic use to avoid unnecessary adverse effects and reduce the risk of antimicrobial resistance.
“I love the team I work with at PRHC. Everyone is very supportive, cooperative and dedicated,” says Rania.
