As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, Peterborough Regional Health Centre is taking additional precautions to keep our patients, visitors, healthcare professionals and staff safe.
Effective Thursday, March 19, the following limits on the number of family members/caregivers coming to the hospital will take effect:
FAMILY PRESENCE WILL BE LIMITED TO ONE (1) FAMILY MEMBER OR CAREGIVER PER PATIENT AT ANY ONE TIME FOR THE FOLLOWING PATIENT GROUPS:
- Emergency Department patients
- Labour & Delivery patients
- Pediatric patients (under 18 years of age)
- End-of-life patients
- Surgical patients requiring anesthesia (for pick-up and drop-off only)
- Critical Care patients
- Outpatient dialysis or oncology patients requiring medical assistance
- Alternate Level of Care (ALC)/long-term patients with behavioural/cognitive/neurological impairment.
All other visitor presence is temporarily suspended as we work to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Exceptions to this policy will be made in situations involving trauma or for compassionate reasons.
Visitors coming to the hospital will continue to be screened for travel history and symptoms of illness, and will be directed away from the Health Centre if they meet either of these criteria. Visitors will be asked to check in at the nursing station on the patient unit before proceeding to the patient room, and to clean their hands well and frequently while at the hospital.
This policy will remain in effect until further notice. Thank you for your co-operation and diligence as we work together to keep our patients, families and employees safe.
