Individuals living with a mental illness in the region will see a seamless transition in the care they receive with a new collaboration between Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) and Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), to share mental health expertise.

“We are thrilled to welcome Scott Pepin to PRHC as the new Integrated Regional Director, Mental Health, as we embark on this collaboration of services with Ontario Shores,” says Brenda Weir, Vice President, Medicine, Mental Health Services and Regional Programs with PRHC. “Scott’s expertise in mental health services will be a valuable asset to our community and the region as we continue to work toward facilitating transitions of care for our patients, improving their ability to access to the right care at the right time in the right location.”

“By leveraging the mental health expertise that is available, we can create and implement a unified vision for this region, resulting in seamless care for patients and the removal of silos in treatment plans,” says Scott Pepin, Integrated Regional Director, who will oversee the collaboration.

The partnership is also expected to enhance the existing work being completed with other partners, build capacity and broaden reach. “This sharing of resources will also mean that people will have access to the kind of care they need, when they need it. It is shared leadership and will result in greater collaboration on general and specific mental health issues and allow us to maximize resources across the region,” adds Pepin.

This partnership will certainly impact the overall care offered to those impacted by mental illness and provide early intervention strategies which can lead to greater outcomes.
